Vis island is only reachable by ferry. Please be careful to match your flights with ferry times. Any questions or doubts? Do not hesitate to ask us for clarifications or advice.

Getting to Vis

Split International Airport (SPU) is the best place to fly into.

Travelers flying from Brussels (BRU) can find some direct flights operated by Brussels Airlines and TUI fly Belgium. Alternatively, several airlines offer connecting flights through Zagreb, Vienna, Frankfurt, etc.

If you want to extend your stay beyond Vis, you may also consider flying into Zagreb, Zadar, or Dubrovnik. From these cities, you can reach Split by renting a car or taking the bus.

Upon arrival in Split, you do not need a rental car. The ferry port is a 30-minute drive from the airport via the dedicated shuttle bus, Uber, or Bolt.

There are 5 to 6 boats a day that leave from the port in Split to Vis.

You can choose between two types of boats:

Catamaran: Smaller boat, only passengers (no vehicles)

Ferry: Big boat, vehicles (cars, scooters, etc.) possible

(1) Careful! These four boats don't run anymore as of 14/09

Krilo: https://krilo.hr/en/sailing-schedule/split-vis/
(Note: Sales for certain dates may not open until a few months beforehand)

Be on time as sometimes location of the boat is different due to the weather conditions (if in doubt where to go, you can call Jadronlinija ferry service in Split: +385 21 338 333).

If coming by car, make sure you book online the ferry ticket in advance to secure your place (vehicles have limited spots). Come around 1h in advance before the ferry departure. Also, don't worry about the car once you arrive—there is plenty of parking in Vis.

Local transportation tips

Everything in the town of Vis is within walking distance. However, if you have time to explore the rest of the island, which we highly recommend, you can rent a scooter, bicycle, boat or car. There are several rental shops available. Taxis are also an option, as is bringing your own (rented) car.
