We’re excited to share a few of our favorite places on the island with you.

Vis is a relaxed and authentic island, known for its charming villages, clear waters, and beautiful beaches. It’s a place to slow down, explore at an easy pace, and enjoy great food, nature, and island life. If you can stay longer, we recommend spending around five days.

Do not hesitate to ask us any question you might have.

Activities

Military tour

Beneath its serene and innocent exterior, Vis hides a storied past. Once a strategic stronghold during World War II, the island is full of untold secrets just waiting to be discovered. Join one of the guided 'military tours' to peel back the layers of history and explore the hidden side of Vis. We recommend it!

Hum mountain

Set at 587m above sea level, Mount Hum is the highest peak on Vis . It is worth a visit, especially for the views at sunset, offering a birdseye view of Komiža and a tiny chapel.

Komiža town

The “other” town on Vis, Komiža is a charming village on the foot of Hum mountain with a laid-back vibe and beautiful seaside views. If you have a bike, scooter, or car (or hiring a taxi), it’s well worth the trip and staying for a dinner.

Fort George

From this heritage fortress, you'll get a beautiful view on the island. On some days it also offers food and drinks.

Blue cave

The blue cave is located on the small nearby island Bisevo. Accessible by boat from Vis, tour operators will take you there to explore the cave's unique natural lighting. We would recommend combining your visit with a day/half-day boat excursion to check out other parts of the coastline that can't be accessed by car or foot. Trips are subject to last-minute cancellation if the weather is unfavorable.

Explore the island by bike, scooter, or car

Explore Vis at your pace and discover its hidden corners. Don't forget sunscreen during sunny days.

Diving

With crystal-clear waters, caves, and shipwrecks, Vis offers some of the best diving experiences in Croatia.

Rent a boat or do a boat tour

For those who have their boat license, you can rent a boat which is a great way to see some beaches which are only accessible by boat. You can also do a boat tour or do a daily sailing trip. In case you are staying longer, you could consider going island Hvar for a day.

Beaches

Prirovo town beach

Vis town beach on a small peninsula with a church. Very close-by and charming, but might be slighly more crowded.

Grandovac town beach

Vis town beach, on the other end from the Prirovo beach. A twenty-minute walk along a flat path that takes you past the abandoned Czech villa. Beautiful sunset.

Stiniva beach

This beach is formed of a collapsed cave and offers a beautiful swimming spot - though it can get busy later on in the day. Also, please note that if getting there (without a boat), visiting this beach requires a long and sometimes treacherous walk down the mountainside that demands grippy shoes.

Srebrna (Silver) beach

A popular beach near the town of Rukavac. Choose your path carefully - if you take a left at the sign, you'll end up at Bilbok, the nudist beach. To the right and you'll end up at Srebrena - a beautiful stone beach on which to read and sunbathe. Rock shoes recommended.

Diamond Beach

Diamond beach is a beautiful pebble beach located in a cove with a bar and restaurant that has lounge chairs, cocktails, and good music. For a more substantial lunch, restaurant Dalmatino is close by - seaside grill with a nice panoramic view.

Zaglav beach

This is a sandy (not 100%, still some stones) beach, quite shallow, so it's great for children and perfect for water games. There's a bar-restaurant with basic food. Recommend access via Milna beach, nice pathway by the sea, cca 12-15 minutes, you can easily walk here in flip-flops.
